The Moorings History

Founded on July 4, 1969, The Moorings started with only six Pearson 35 yachts located in the BVI.

Over 40 years later, The Moorings has revolutionized the charter industry, as well as ownership options within charter programs.

Originally starting with a fleet of identical yachts, the company now boasts a large number of different monohulls and catamarans, including the largest fleet of Leopard Catamarans built by world renowned builder Robertson & Caine, who now exclusively builds for The Moorings, Sunsail and Leopard Catamarans.

Sunsail History

Sunsail is perfect for those who have a passion for new and exciting experiences.

Founded in 1974, this company offers a wide choice of water-based vacations with over 800 yachts in 30 locations throughout the Caribbean, Mediterranean, South Pacific, Indian Ocean and Europe.

Sunsail is one of the largest sailing and watersports vacation companies, delivering great value sailing vacations with a cutting edge fleet consisting of Jeanneau monohulls and Leopard catamarans, in the world’s best cruising grounds.

Leopard Catamarans History

In 1994, South African builder Robertson and Caine began building catamarans specifically designed for The Moorings' charter fleet. Sailors were impressed with the new line of catamarans coming from the Robertson and Caine factories, and were interested in purchasing these yachts for private use. In 2000, private production began under the brand Leopard Catamarans, and by 2012, 1000 Leopard Catamarans were already sailing the world's waters.
